This spicy raw mango salad is a tangy, crunchy, and refreshing meal packed with vitamins, fibre, and antioxidants. The sourness of raw mango pairs beautifully with the sweetness of honey, the crunch of fresh vegetables, and the heat of chilli flakes. It is perfect as a side dish, a healthy snack or even a light meal.

Ingredients

Base:

  • Raw mangoes, julienned – 250 g
  • Red bell pepper, chopped – 50 g
  • Cucumber, diced – 75 g
  • Red onion, thinly sliced – 30 g
  • Coriander leaves, chopped – 10 g
  • Mint leaves, chopped – 10 g
  • Green chilli, chopped – 1 tsp

For dressing:

  • Fresh lime juice – 1 tbsp
  • Honey – ½ tsp
  • Red chilli flakes – ½ tsp
  • Pink salt – ½ tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – ¼ tsp
  • Virgin live oil – 1 tsp

Topping:

  • Almonds, chopped – 1 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds – ½ tsp

Instructions

  • Peel the mango and julienne it. Chop the vegetables, and finely slice the red onion.
  • In a large bowl, combine the raw mango, bell pepper, cucumber, red onion, coriander, mint leaves, and green chilli.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, honey, red chilli flakes, salt, cumin powder, and olive oil. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat everything evenly.
  • Sprinkle chopped almonds and sesame seeds on the top, plate it and serve.

Healthy Tips & Facts

  • Choose firm, green raw mangoes for the best tangy flavour.
  • You can make it protein-rich by adding chickpea, tofu or paneer.
  • For a more intense flavour, let the salad sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • If the raw mango is too sour, slightly increase the honey or add a pinch of jaggery.
  • Adjust the spice and sweetness levels to balance the sourness of the mango.
