Aam panna is a refreshing and tangy summer drink made from raw mangoes. It is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and electrolytes, making it a perfect hydrating beverage. This healthier version is naturally sweetened and avoids refined sugar, making it a gut-friendly, digestion and heat-resistant summer drink.

Ingredients

  • Raw mangoes – 2 medium-sized
  • Water – 500 ml
  • Jaggery – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder – ½ tsp 
  • Fennel seed powder – ½ tsp 
  • Mint leaves – 10 leaves
  • Black pepper powder – ½ tsp 
  • Ice cubes
  • Water – ½ cup

Instructions

Cook the raw mangoes:

  • Peel the raw mangoes and chop them into chunks. 
  • Add the chopped mangoes with 2 cups of water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. 
  • Cook for 8-10 minutes until the mangos turn soft. 
  • Let the mixture cool completely. 

 

Blend into a smooth puree:

  • Transfer the cooled mixture to a blender. 
  • Add jaggery powder, salt, cumin powder, fennel seed powder, black pepper and mint leaves. Blend into a smooth paste. 

 

Prepare and serve:

  • Mix 2-3 tbsp of aam panna concentrate with ½ cup water and ice cubes in a glass to serve. 
  • Stir well and garnish with mint leaves and serve. 

Healthy Tips & Facts

  • You can roast the raw mangoes on an open flame before boiling for a smoky flavour. 
  • Use firm, unripe raw mango with a green peel for the best tangy flavour. 
  • You can also add chaat masala or ginger powder to elevate the taste. 
  • For a fizzy variation, add sparkling water or soda. 
  • Add 1 tsp chia seeds for an extra cooling effect and fibre boost.
